The SSC is happy to announce that we will be offering another Futures season with Festival play for our 2014 and 2015 boys and girls.

What is the Futures Program? The SSC Futures program is a supplemental program to the Academy and Open Play sessions. We started this program last season to give the Academy players an opportunity to participate in a more competitive league playing against other local towns. Importantly: The Futures program will not conflict with the Academy program and Open Play Sessions which require a separate registration.

When will the season begin? Training will begin this week (first training session will be held on Thursday March 10th). The program will consist of 10 training sessions, coached by two SSC trainers and will run through May 19th.

When will the Festival games begin? Our first game will be held the weekend of April 2nd (exact day and time TBD) and the season will run through May 22nd (there will be no game Easter weekend). We will be playing 6 games across 7 weekends against Scotch Plains, Berkeley Heights, FC Berna Legacy, Bridgewater, Hillsborough and potentially Chatham. Each weekend we will play a different club. We are hoping to have a firm schedule for the season by the first game in April but our intention will be to schedule the games for either Saturday morning or Sunday. At the end of the season we plan on having one all-inclusive Festival that will host all 7 clubs. This Festival will likely be played the weekend of June 4th. Games will be played either home or away (schedule TBD).  The games will typically be managed by parents (if you have interest in helping out please let us know – significant experience not required!).

Who Can Play? The Futures program is being offered to 2014 and 2015 boys and girls that are already participating in the SSC Academy program. Importantly, we will be limiting the number of players this season to a total of 20 girls and 20 boys. NOTE: we will be mixing the two age groups into one team of boys and one team of girls (as this is how the other towns are doing it). So if you son or daughter is a 2015 birthdate please make sure you are comfortable with him or her playing with and against kids who were born in 2014.
