I apologize in advance for the length of this email. Please take the time to read it as it contains important details about roster sizes and using guest players in the MCYSA league.
As discussed at the parents meeting last evening, the MCYSA league requires all scheduled games to be played as long as you can field a minimum roster. Minimum roster sizes are:
U9-U10 5 players (4+GK)
U11-U12 6 players (5+GK)
U13-U19 7 players (6+GK)
In order to assist teams with fielding the required minimum number of players, the league has established a guest policy which allows players carded to one MCYSA team to serve as guest players on other MCYSA teams. EDP and Rec players may not play as guests for MCYSA teams. U9 teams cannot use guests and U9 players are not allowed to serve as guests. You may have up to 4 guest players on your roster for MCYSA games.
If you need to use guests to help round out your roster, please reach out to Dave Stapleton (Girls Director of Coaching) or Darren Shimwell (Boys Director of Coaching) who will provide you with the guest players. You will need to add the guest to your game-day roster (you basically search for the guest player's name in the system and check a box before printing the game-day roster), bring the guest's original player pass ("card") and a copy of the guest's primary team roster to the game with you. It is your responsibility to make sure the guest's player pass gets returned to the guest player's primary team parent manager.
The MCYSA guest rules, (which can be found here: http://www.mcysa.org/doclib/MCYSA%20Guest%20Carding%20Policy%20180906.pdf) are complicated but the gist of them is that a player may play as a guest on a higher flighted team in the same age group or on any team in the next two older age groups. For example, a U10 "B-team" player could serve as a guest on the U10 "A-team", or the U11 & U12 A, B and C teams but could not be a guest on the U10 "C-team". Male players may not play as guests on female teams. However, female players may play as guests on male teams and may even play on a male team of a lower flight in their same age group. For example, a female U10 "A-team" player could serve as a guest on a male A, B, or C team in any of the U10, U11 or U12 age groups.
I realize that the rules are confusing so I have prepared a table which shows which teams can provide guests for each Summit SC team.
United, Breakers, Bohemians, Celtic, Seasiders, Lions
Revolution, United, Breakers
The guest policy is designed to help you round out your rosters for games and to allow the kids more opportunities to play. I encourage you to make use of it. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
